Palm Jumeirah is the largest artificial island on Earth. With its outlines, it repeats a palm tree (trunk and 16 symmetrically arranged leaves), which is surrounded by a crescent-shaped breakwater to protect against waves. The island belongs to the Palm Islands archipelago. The composition also includes Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira. Palm Jumeirah was created by Nakheel development company. The coastline of the island is 78.6 km. The island is connected to the mainland by a 300-meter bridge, and the crescent is connected to the top of the palm tree by an underwater tunnel.
